Roku accounts for 34% of streaming TV device sales in US

Roku sold 34 percent of all streaming TV devices sold in the US in 2014, followed by Google with 23 percent, according to new research from Parks Associates. Amazon overtook took Apple in third place. The four companies accounted for 86 percent of all units sold. The report found that nearly 20 percent of broadband homes own at least one streaming media player, such as Roku 3, Amazon Fire TV, or Apple TV, while 8 percent  own at least one streaming stick, such as a Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV stick or Roku's HDMI Streaming Stick.
