Roku wins 30% share of US streaming player sales in Q1

Roku is still the most popular brand of streaming media players, accounting for 30 percent of the players purchased from Q1 2015 to Q1 2016, according to Parks. Amazon moved into a virtual tie with Google at 22 percent of sales. Along with Apple TV (20%), the four major players accounted for 94 percent of the streaming media players purchased last year, up from 86 percent in 2014. Parks forecasts that an estimated 86 million streaming media players will be sold globally in 2019.
