Roman to step down as Vodafone Spain chairman

Vodafone Spain has announced that its longstanding chairman Francisco Roman will be stepping down on 31 December after more than 16 years with the company. Roman, who will also be leaving his position as chairman of the Vodafone Spain Foundation, was appointed technology director of the operator back in 2002 after 4 years as Microsoft Iberica CEO. He took over as Vodafone Spain CEO in 2003 and was named chairman of the company in 2008, overseeing its subsequent move into the fixed line market via the acquisition of Tele2 and Ono.
