Romania's president contests law modifying way of appointing Ancom's head

Romania's president Klaus Iohannis sent a letter of unconstitutionality on 15 January to the Constitutional Court which concerns the law approving the Government emergency ordinance no. 33/2017 which brought major changes to the ways in which the local telecommunications authority Ancom's head is appointed and dismissed, writes local paper Hotnews.ro. Iohannis argues that the Government of former PM Sorin Grindeanu violated the constitution when he adopted in May 2017 the 33/2017 ordinance which removes the country's president from the procedure of appointing Ancom's management.
