Rostelecom launches 5G pilot area in Hermitage

Russian national operator Rostelecom, in cooperation with Ericsson, has launched a testing area for a 5G network in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. The network uses equipment from Ericsson and the 3,500 MHz band spectrum held by Rostelecom. Frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band held by the mobile operator Tele2 Russia are also being used for carrier aggregation on the network.
