Rostelecom to keep Tele2 Russia brand after acquisition

Russian national operator Rostelecom plans to keep the Tele2 Russia brand after acquiring the mobile operator , reports Kommersant citing Rostelecom CEO Mikhail Oseyevskiy. Tele2 Russia will become a subsidiary of Rostelecom. No decision has yet been taken about whether the respective retail chains will be merged. 

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming months.

Russian state-owned bank VTB is thinking of taking part in the deal led by national operator Rostelecom to acquire a stake in mobile operator Tele2 Russia, reports RNS citing Andrey Kostin, CEO of the bank. The bank plans to acquire a stake in Rostelecom either in cash or as part of a swap-exchange.

Rostelecom reaches deal to buy rest of Tele2 Russia

Russian national operator Rostelecom has reached an agreement on raising its stake in the mobile operator Tele2 Russia to 100 percent, reports Prime citing Mikhail Oseevskiy, the CEO of the national operator. Oseevskiy didn't disclose the financial conditions of the deal, but said that Tele2 Russia will continue working as a separate company.

Russian bank VTB plans to sell its stake in the mobile operator Tele2 Russia to the national operator Rostelecom, reports Comnews.ru. Andrey Kostin, the president of the bank, told journalists at the Sochi Investors Forum that a final decision on the issue will be taken within a month.

Rostelecom would take on heavy debt if it bought out Tele2 Russia -- economist

Gaining a majority stake in mobile operator Tele2 Russia would foster the development of Rostelecom, reports Prime citing economist Nikita Krichevsky. At the same time, the acquisition would raise the national operator's debts. Rostelecom is expected to spend RUB 240 billion to increase its stake in Tele2 Russia and is likely to need credit in order to close this deal.
