RTL Group has lifted its full-year EBITDA forecast, driven by strong results in Q3 from its French and German TV channels and helped by the planned sale of a building in Paris in Q4. The broadcaster now expects annual growth of 1.0-2.5 percent, after previously forecasting a stable result and reporting a 1.6 percent fall in the first nine months of 2017.

Revenues are still forecast up 2.5-5.0 percent in the full year, driven by the German and digital businesses. Growth in the first nine months was 2.6 percent, and in the third quarter, RTL grew revenues 1.5 percent to EUR 1.372 billion.

EBITDA in Q3 was up strongly, by 17.4 percent to EUR 263 million, as the activities in Germany and France outperformed on the TV ad market. Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland’s EBITDA was up 23.9 percent, while Groupe M6 increased its EBITDA by 36.5 percent. RTL's group net profit increased 11.8 percent year-on-year to EUR 114 million in Q3.

RTL also announced that it plans to combine its ad units SpotX and Smartclip by the end of 2018 in order to accelerate their collaboration and create a single adtech unit. The business will be rolled out across the group's operations and scaled up further through acquisitions and partnerships.
