RTL most watched private TV station in Germany

RTL had the most viewers of any German private TV station in 2016, though public stations continued to attract the largest market shares, new figures from the VPRT show. According to figures released by the German telecommunications association VPRT, RTL was the most popular private station among German viewers on an average day in 2015-2016, attracting 9.7 percent of the market. However, public stations pulled in the greatest share of viewers, with ZDF securing a market share of 13 percent.
