RTR records 200 complaints of scam calls in January

Tuesday 9 February 2021 | 10:10 CET | News
Austrian regulator RTR said it has received 200 complaints of scam calls in January, from within Austria but also from abroad. The scammers often introduced themselves as service and support employees from well-known companies to start conversations and try to steal personal data. In many cases, the aim was to steal address details, bank account details or credit card numbers and cause financial harm to the victims. In addition to scam calls, the fraudsters also use e-mails, infected websites and pop-ups to contact customers.
