
The lower chamber of the Russian Parliament has adopted the law to protect important ITC infrastructure from hackers, reports Tdaily.ru. The law will go into effect from 1 January, after getting signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The list of important ITC infrastructure includes state IT systems and telecommunicatons networks, as well as automatised systems managing technological processes in numerous fields of Russian industry. The objects will be included in a special register; their owners will have to inform the government of any incident and to prevent unauthorised access to information.
Important ITC infrastructure can only be owned by Russian citizens or legal entities. Foreign entities owning such infrastructure will have to work with their branches registered in Russia.
