Russian IT workforce likely to have 2 million shortfall by 2027

The Russian IT sector is expected to have a shortfall of around 2 million people in Russia in 2027, reports Cnews.ru citing a study by the Fund of the Development of Internet Initiatives (FDII). There is already a skill shortage in the Big Data and machine learning fields, it said.

Russian national operator Rostelecom plans to cooperate with Oracle on implementing the federal programme 'Digital Economy', reports Comnews.ru. The two will cooperate in the field of engineering of cloud services. Rostelecom earlier chose Oracle as a provider of IaaS and PaaS for its own needs.

Russian national operator Rostelecom plans to invest RUB 260.4 million in the further development of its search engine and browser Sputnik, reports Vedomosti. Sputnik is due to be adapted to work with Big Data. In May, the possible cessation of the project had been announced.

Russian operator Trivon Networks, working under the Virgin Connect brand, has launched its new MacTarget product, reports Comnews.ru.The new product is based on Big Data; it enables to collect the data from mobile service users and to target online advertising to them using this data. The company has already launched the commercial exploitation of the product; it is available in all cities where the operator is present.
