Russia plans auction for 1,800 MHz band
Nikolay Nikiforov, Russian minister of communications, has approved the decision on distributing frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band via an auction. Frequencies in the 1,710-1,785 MHz and 1,805-1,880 MHz bands will be offered in nine regions: the Amur, Orenburg, Samara, Perm and Stavropol regions, as well as in Dagestan, Buryatia, North Ossetia and Karachay-Cherkesia republics. Winning bidders will be able to use the bands for either GSM or LTE services for 10 years. The initial price of each block, depending on the region and width, will vary fro RUB 0.5 million to RUB 240.4 million. The auction is planned to be completed by 30 September.
