Tele2 Russia to start services in Moscow in H2 2015
Mobile operator Tele2 Russia plans to start providing its services in the Moscow region in the second half of 2015. The operator is currently carrying out preparatory work, including deploying the network, hiring premises and negotiating with partners on a distribution network. Tele2 Russia, according to the strategy approved by its shareholders, plans to launch 3G and LTE networks also in the Voronezh, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny-Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Rostov, St Petersburg and Chelyabinsk regions in 2015. Most of the LTE networks will be launched on the 1,800 MHz bands, following Russia's adoption of the technology-neutral principle.

Nikolay Nikiforov, Russian minister of communications, has approved the decision on distributing frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band via an auction. Tele2 Russia starts retail chain development in Moscow

Mobile operator Tele2 Russia has started a project on the development of its retail chain in the city and region of Moscow. The operator plans to starts services there in the second quarter of this year. The first agreements on retail premises have been concluded, and the deployment of mono-brand retail outlets is planned to started in the largest commercial centres in Moscow, as well as in major cities in the Moscow region soon. Mobile operator Tele2 Russia has started sales of local telephony numbers on its website in the city and region of St Petersburg, reports Tdaily.ru. Activation of a standard local number costs RUB 200. The daily subscription to the service is RUB 3.

Regulator clears Tele2 Russia network launch in Moscow

Russian federal competition regulator FAS has approved the launch of mobile operator Tele2 Russia in the city of Moscow, reports Comnews.ru. The regulator said that the new network will foster competition in the mobile market. Tele2 Russia will enter the market of the capital city as the fourth mobile operator, after receiving state support for its launch. The operator has said it plans to start services in Moscow inthe second half of this year.

Tele2 Russia adds 15% more base stations in 2014

Mobile operator Tele2 Russia announced that it expanded the amount of base stations on its network by 15 percent in 2014. An area including 1 million residents was covered by the LTE network, and a population of 10 million can access the 3G network of the operator, four months after it was first launched. LTE services were launched in the Tula region, and 3G services became accessible in five regions. The operator also doubled the numebr of regions where it operates, from 34 to 61.

Mobile operator Tele2 Russia announced that daily traffic on its network has grown by 50 percent month-on-month in December. The increase is related to the launch of 3G and LTE networks by the operator in several regions. Tele2 Russia launches 3G network in Chelyabinsk

Mobile operator Tele2 Russia has launched its 3G network in the Chelyabinsk region. 3G services from the operator were earlier launched in St Petersburg and Novosibirsk regions this month.
