Safaricom, Airtel, Telkom are ready for poll network coverage

Tuesday 8 August 2017 | 09:54 CET | News
Kenyan operators Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom have said they are ready to provide the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) with a secure network for the 08 August general elections. The 3G and 4G network coverage provided by the three operators will be paramount to the agency's electronic transmission of results. In a joint statement, the operators and IEBC acknowledge that their main responsibility is to "provide a secure conduit to transmit the encrypted results" between polling stations and the IEBC's National Tallying Center in Nairobi.
