Safaricom may borrow to fund Ethiopia telecom bid

Kenyan operator Safaricom said it plans to borrow in order to fund its entry onto the Ethiopian telecom business market, Bloomberg reported. The company hopes to make that entry as part of a consortium including parent Vodacom Group and two other entities. Safaricom interim CEO Michael Joseph explained the loan would be used to build a company network in Ethiopia.
