Safaricom revenue rises nearly 18% in H1

Kenyan operator Safaricom said its revenue increased by 17.5 percent to KES 146.37 billion in the six months to 30 September compared with KES 124.53 billion in the same period in 2020. Service revenue grew 16.9 percent year-on-year (YoY) to KES 138.43 billion from KES 118.41 billion supported by strong execution, recovery in M-Pesa revenue following the return to charging on P2P and Lipa na M-Pesa transactions below KES 1,000 in January, and improved consumer confidence and business activity in the economy.
