Safaricom seeks to review M-Pesa review limit

Kenyan operator Safaricom is negotiating with the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to raise the limit on a single mobile money transfer from the present KES 70,000. The operator also hopes the volume of payments through its e-commerce platform Lipa na M-pesa Online will greatly multiply after it extended it to online shopping. The maximum one can send in a day is KES 140,000, which will require two transactions, The Star reported. The CBK proposed in April to investigate mobile money transactions above KES 100,000 in a day and KES 300,000 in a week, to curb against money laundering through
