Samoa creates Submarine Cable Company, invests USD 49 mln

Samoa's government has established the country's first locally-owned submarine cable company. Investments in the project reach USD 49 million, Radio New Zealand reports, citing Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau, Samoa's minister of communication and IT. Dubbed Samoa Submarine Cable Company, the entity is the result of the partnership between Samoan operators Bluesky and Digicel, the Computer Service, and financial investors the Samoa National Provident Fund, the Unit Trust of Samoa and Samoa Life Assurance.
