Samsung acquires Greek specialist in text-to-speech

Samsung is acquiring Innoetics, a small Greek firm specialising in voice technologies, for an undisclosed sum, writes local paper Ekathimerini.com. Following the transaction, the company's 7 employees will work for Samsung. The company developed character-full and expressive synthetic voices that can read aloud audiobooks, act in games, or even narrate fairy tales. Innoetics announced on its website it will discontinue its commercial activities after over 10 years of helping customers use synthetic voices.
