Samsung books strong initial orders for Galaxy S6 - report
Mobile operators worldwide have ordered around 20 million of Samsung's new Galaxy S6 smartphones, according to a report in the Korea Times. Customers have pre-ordered some 15 million of the Galaxy S6 and 5 million of the S6 Edge, an unnamed Samsung executive told the paper. The two phones were presented at the Mobile World Congress and are expected to go on sale in mid-April.

Samsung applies for S6 Edge+ trademark

Samsung has applied to register the trademark S6 EDGE+ for a new smartphone. The US Patent and Trademark Office writes the new application will be assigned to an examining attorney approximately three months after the filing date of 26 June. Separately, Phandroid reports that new curved phone is rumoured to feature a 5.50-in dual Edge Super Amoled Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 808 processor, 16 megapixel rear camera with optical stabiliser, 5 megapixel front camera, and 32 GB of storage.

Samsung Q1 profit slips despite higher smartphone shipments

Samsung Electronics said revenues for the first quarter fell to KRW 47.12 trillion from 53.68 trillion the year before, with the operating profit sliding to KRW 18.16 trillion from 21.63 trillion and the net profit going lower to KRW 4.63 trillion from 7.57 trillion. Samsung launches mobile security platform with Trustonic

Samsung Electronics announced Trustonic for Knox, a new mobile security platform developed through its partnership with Trustonic, a provider of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for mobile devices. Samsung to spend record GBP 45 mln on Galaxy S6 advertising

Samsung plans to invest a record GBP 45 million in a UK ad campaign for the Galaxy S6 smartphone, reports Telegraph, adding that it will be the most ever in invested in launching a phone and the most for any single product in the UK. The campaign will include broadcast, outdoor, including on the London tube. This figure marks a 20 percent boost to launch advertising expenditure compared to the Galaxy S5. Samsung Electronics presented at Mobile World Congress its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6. The premium unibody design sports a metal frame and Corning's Gorilla Glass 4, with a 5.1-inch Super Amoled display.
