Samsung Display starts operations
Samsung Electronics announced the official launch of its new subsidiary Samsung Display Co Ltd. Samsung Display held its inauguration ceremony and will begin business operations after carrying out incorporation registration on 03 April. Donggun Park, executive vice president and head of the former Samsung Electronics' LCD Business was elected CEO of Samsung Display. The company, which recorded KRW 22.7 trillion (USD 20 billion) in annual revenue in 2011 making it the world's biggest display manufacturer, was spun off last month by Samsung. It will later consider a merger with sister companies Samsung Mobile Display and S-LCD, creating one company for both LCD and OLED displays.

Samsung to supply screen for new iPad - iSuppli

Samsung will supply the screen for Apple's new iPad after LG Display and Sharp didn't meet the company's quality requirements, Bloomberg reports. Samsung currently is the sole vendor of the display for the 9.7-inch, touch-screen device, said Vinita Jakhanwal, a senior manager at iSuppli. Samsung confirms LCD spin-off from April

Samsung Electronics confirmed plans to spin off its LCD business into a separate company. The subsidiary will then consider a merger with Samsung Mobile Display and S-LCD, creating one company for both LCD and OLED display panels.
