Samsung faces new legal action in France over 'fairwashing'

Monday 14 September 2020 | 12:31 CET | News
French consumer association UFC-Que Choisir started legal action against Samsung and its French subsidiary, accusing the device maker of deceptive marketing practices. The case follows a similar court action brought by activist groups Sherpa and ActionAid France, which is currently ongoing. "In light of persistent malpractice", said UFC-Que Choisir, Samsung has now attracted a new complaint over "fairwashing", or the way a business builds an ethical or fair-trade image, while failing to honour the commitments made in public.
