Samsung Galaxy Tab ban lifted; HTC files fresh Apple lawsuit
The regional court in Duesseldorf, Germany, has partly lifted a preliminary injunction banning sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer in most of the EU, reports the Wall Street Journal. A court spokesperson said that the court had lifted the order for EU markets outside of Germany amid uncertainty as to whether a German court has the power to ban a South Korea-based company from selling products outside of Germany. Samsung's German subsidiary is still banned from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the EU, including the Netherlands. A next hearing is scheduled for 25 August. Separately, HTC has filed a fresh patent infringement lawsuit against Apple. The lawsuit, filed in Delaware claims that the Apple iPhone, iPad and Mac PCs violate three HTC patents. HTC is seeking an injunction and compensation.

Samsung files counterclaim against Apple in Australia

Samsung Electronics filed a lawsuit in Australia alleging Apple's iPhone and iPad 2 tablet violate a number of patents held by Samsung. Samsung Electronics spokesman Nam Ki-yung told Dow Jones the suit comes in response to Apple's own intellectual property claims against Samsung. The ongoing intellectual property dispute between Apple and Samsung is also being played out in France, reports Les Echos. Apple is seeking to ban sales of some Samsung devices in Japan, accusing its rival of violating patents relating to the iPhone and iPad. HTC gains Google patents to fight Apple

HTC is using nine patents bought from Google last week to pursue new infringement claims against Apple, Bloomberg reports. Samsung pulls Galaxy Tab 7.7 from Ifa show after injunction

Samsung pulled its new 7.7-inch Galaxy Tab devices from German consumer electronics show Ifa taking in place in Berlin after a German court accepted Apple's request to ban sales and marketing of Samsung's new tablet device there.
