Samsung, Intel back FTC in Qualcomm antitrust dispute

Monday 15 May 2017 | 16:02 CET | News
Samsung and Intel have filed briefs backing the antritrust lawsuit brought against Qualcomm by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), reports the Wall Street Journal. The dispute arose after the FTC accused Qualcomm of unfair trade practices, saying it used its dominant position to charge unfair royalty rates by making sales of chips conditional on the purchase of a patent license. The FTC's case resulted in a lawsuit from Apple on grounds of overcharging and a countersuit from Qualcomm for breach of terms.
