Samsung introduces low-cost 5G smartphones in US

Samsung Electronics America announced the Galaxy A13 5G, what it calls the most affordable 5G phone in the A series portfolio. It comes with a 6.5-inch adaptive 90Hz Infinity-V HD+ display, 15W Fast Charging, 64GB of onboard storage, and expandable storage which can hold up to 1TB when a microSD card is added.

The Galaxy A13 5G is priced at USD 249.99 and will be available online starting 3 December at AT&T and on Samsung.com. AT&T offers the device for USD 6.95 per month under a qualifying installment plan. T-Mobile will launch the phone in January 2022. 

Samsung also is bringing the Galaxy A03s to the US, available beginning January 2022 at AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Samsung.com. It's equipped with a long-lasting battery, triple camera system, and fingerprint security. The device comes at the lowest price in Samsung’s A series lineup, at USD 159.

US smartphone shipments up 10% in Q4

US smartphone shipments grew 10 percent year-on-year and 30 percent quarter-on-quarter in Q4 2021 as the new iPhone 13 launched, filling channels with its latest premium devices for the holiday season, according to data from Counterpoint Research. The premium segment players Apple and Samsung had opposing results, with Apple seeing its market share go up, while Samsung witnessed a drop.
