Samsung Electronics has announced that domestic sales of its new flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S21, surpassed 1 million units last week, Yonhap news agency reports. Samsung said the S21, which was released on the local market on 29 January, achieved this milestone 57 days after its launch, about one-month faster than its predecessor, the S20.
However, the pace of S21 sales was slower than sales for the S10, which hit the milestone of 1 million units sold in 47 days in 2019.
The Samsung S21 smartphone is available in South Korea for a starting price of KRW 999,900 (USD 880). Samsung also reports that the basic S21 model accounted for 52 percent of the total S21 series sales, followed by the high-end S21 Ultra with 27 percent and the mid-tier S21+ with 21 percent. Unlocked S21 smartphones made up 20 percent of Samsung’s total sales in South Korea, and 60 percent of them were purchased online.
