Samsung to invest KRW 700 bln in India plant - report

Samsung Electronics plans to invest KRW 700 billion (approximately USD 623 million) in India to expand the local production of smartphones, Yonhap news agency reports, citing unnamed Indian government and industry sources. According to these sources, Samsung wants to expand its existing 120,000 square meter production line in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, to 240,000 square meters. Following the completion of this expansion project, the factory would see its production capacity double to 10 million handsets per month, compared with the current 5 million units per month.
