Santander arranging Metroweb fund to cable 10 Italian cities

Thursday 18 February 2016 | 10:29 CET | News
Spain's Banco Santander is working with a pool of banks to arrange funding for Metroweb's EUR 750-800 million plan to cable ten Italian cities, reports Il Messaggero. Around 15 financial institutions, including Unicredit, B.Mps, Ubi B., B.P.Milano, BBVA, ING, HSBC and Credit Agricole, have expressed an interest in providing up to EUR 400 million, with the rest of the funding coming from shareholders, said the report. One of the eventual investors could be Vodafone Italia which, together with Wind, signed a non-binding letter of intent with Metroweb that is due to expire on 29 February.
