Screen mirroring technology awareness hits 40% - survey

Some 40 percent of US smartphone and tablet owners are aware of screen mirroring technologies, which allow consumers to wirelessly project content from smartphones, PCs and tablets to a TV, according to a first quarter survey by NPD. Apple AirPlay is the most well known, with an over 20 percent awareness rate, ahead of Samsung AllShare and Xbox SmartGlass, both at more than 10 percent. The survey also found that usage of screen mirroring technology stands at only 7 percent and that 3 percent of respondents use AirPlay.
