SeCom awards 4G spectrum to Movistar Argentina

Argentine telecoms ministry SeCom has awarded 4G spectrum to mobile telephony operator Movistar, owned by Spanish telecoms operator Telefonica. The telco obtained spectrum in the 1710-1720 MHz and 2110-2120 MHz bands The company will have 10 days to deposit the payment for the license, and start the deployment of 4G infrastructure. SeCom has recently awarded 3G ad 4G spectrum to Claro, of Mexico's America Movil and Personal, owned by Telecom Argentina. The government will also award additional spectrum to new entrant Airlink.
