Semiconductor industry tops USD 429 bln in 2017

Global semiconductor revenue grew 21.7 percent, reaching USD 429.1 billion in 2017, according to a study by IHS Markit. This is the industry's highest year-over-year growth in 14 years. Recording year-over-year growth of 53.6 percent, and its highest semiconductor revenue ever, Samsung replaced Intel as the new market leader of the semiconductor industry in 2017. Intel was followed by SK Hynix, in third position. The next companies in the classification are Micron Technology, Broadcom, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Toshiba, NXP and nVidia.
