Semtech, Lacuna extend LoRaWAN network into space

Semiconductor supplier Semtech has announced a partnership with UK-based Lacuna Space to extend the LoRaWAN network using a constellation of low-earth orbit satellites. This will help fill gaps terrestrial gateways and networked ground stations that are out of cellular reach to provide full global coverage. This will support IoT devices needing wider, continuous coverage, such as those used for asset tracking and livestock monitoring.
