Senate committee passes amendment to revive internet ad tax

The French Senate's finance committee has voted in favour of an amendment to re-establish an internet advertising tax that was defeated in the National Assembly on 10 June, Le Monde reports. According to a committee statement, by bringing the tax back Parliament will "accelerate reflection on the subject". If it becomes law, tax payments would not be made before April 2012. It added that the national digital council formed at the end of April had yet to look into the subject of e-commerce taxation, and will always have time to consider a postponement or replacement of the advertising tax by
