Sercomm, Altiostar launch virtualised small cells

Sercomm and Altiostar jointly announced the deployment of what they call the world's first virtualised small cells which combine Sercomm's optimised hardware design with Altiostar's vRAN (virtualised radio access network) and use the Qualcomm FSM Small Cell Platform. The virtualised small cell was deployed in the tests of Rakuten's fully virtualised cloud-native network in suburban Tokyo, initially launched in February.
