SES bids for Optus Satellite - report

Satellite operator SES and investment companies KKR and Carlyle have made an offer to buy Optus Satellite, SingTel's Australian satellite division, three people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. SingTel hopes to sell the business for over AUD 2 billion, according to reports last month. Optus operates five satellites providing consumer TV, radio, phone and internet, as well as military communications covering New Zealand and some of the Antarctic. Optus Satellites generated AUD 319 million of revenue in 2012. SingTel is looking for cash to fund planned acquisitions. None of the parties
