Shell is among the bidders vying to gain control of the Post Office's telecoms arm, Sky News reports. Sky, the immediate parent company of Sky News, and TalkTalk Telecom Group, are also said to be competing in the auction, according to the report.

The Post Office's telecoms arm has roughly 500,000 customers and is expected to sell for close to GBP 100 million.

Shell entered the UK broadband market with the acquisition of First Utility in 2018. It counts around 130,000 UK broadband customers, as well as 870,000 domestic energy accounts.
