
Silent Circle raises USD 50 mln, buys out Blackphone venture

Silent Circle, the company behind the encryption software powering the Blackphone, has raised USD 50 million in fresh capital from private investors. The new financing is expected to help the company expand its secure communications software in the business market. In addition, Silent Circle plans to buy out its partner in the Blackphone venture, the Spanish handset maker Geeksphone. This gives Silent Circle full control of the SGP venture.
