SILIKA 5G research project wins EU subsidy

The European research project SILIKA working on 5G antenna technology has won a EUR 3 million subsidy from the EU to further its research. They are researching base stations that can support hundreds and thousands of antennas, with support for multiple frequencies up to the 30 GHz band. The aggregation of multiple spectrum bands will support a strong increase in capacity and speeds over mobile networks. The consortium includes Ericsson, NXP, Orban Microwave Products, and the universities TU Eindhoven, KU Leuven and Chalmers. The subsidy, which will be used to hire 12 researchers, is part of
