Single network 'in interest of all' - TIM chairman

Friday 3 August 2018 | 09:36 CET | News
Having a single network infrastructure for use by each of Italy's operators is "in the interest of all" and guards against "wasteful" duplication, said Telecom Italia (TIM) chairman Fulvio Conti in an interview with business daily Il Sole 24 Ore. In March TIM's board approved a plan to voluntarily separate its fixed access network, creating a legal entity (Netco) that's 100 percent controlled by the company. Italian communications regulator Agcom subsequently gave its initial go-ahead to the operator's plan to separate its last-mile network by launching a public consultation on the project.
