SingTel launches LTE services, fresh data bundles
Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has launched an LTE service for smartphone users. At launch SingTel is offering three handsets: the HTC One XL, the LG Optimus LTE, and the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE. The service offers theoretical download speeds of up to 75 Mbps and typical download speeds between 3.4 and 12 Mbps. The company further said that island-wide rollout of the LTE network is expected to be completed early next year and the company plans to introduce its Priority Pass traffic priority feature for the 4G service next year as well. Furthermore, SingTel also introduced new Flexi and iFlexi plans with tiered data bundles. The new plans for 3G and 4G customers will offer data bundles ranging from 2 GB to 12 GB, as well as more generous SMS bundles, and higher data speeds. Charges for data usage beyond bundled allowances have been revised to SGD 5.35 GB versus the previous rate of SGD 2.76 per MB. The plans will be available to all new and re-contracting customers from 1 July and will replace existing 3G Flexi and iFlexi plans.
