SingTel, M1, StarHub launch DBS One.Tap
Three Singaporean mobile operators now offer the DBS One.Tap virtual credit card. Following StarHub, M1 and SingTel have also launched the NFC payment service. Existing DBS/POSB cardholders and new customers who hold NFC-enabled mobile handsets can replace their Sim card with an NFC Sim card at any M1, SingTel or StarHub shop. They can then apply for DBS One.Tap Card via their smartphones. Once approved, customers can download their respective mobile network operator's NFC wallet application from Google Play and activate DBS One.Tap. There are currently around 30,000 merchant outlets equipped with contactless pay terminals and DBS will continue to expand this.

SingTel, SoftBank up stake in TheMobileGamer

SingTel, through its subsidiary SingTel Idea Factory, has increased its investment in TheMobileGamer, along with co-investor SoftBank. SingTel and SoftBank each bought 17.22 million shares for SGD 1.84 million. StarHub updates on mobile network enhancements

Singporean communications provider StarHub is upgrading its mobile network with higher capacity 4G and 3G base stations, upgraded transmission backbone, and small cell deployment. Singaporean communications provider M1 has chosen Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a small cell (femtocell) system to enhance its 3G radio coverage and capacity in indoor premises. SingTel Singapore's Q4 profit falls 7.4%

In its home market of Singapore, Singtel recorded a fourth quarter net profit of SGD 271 million, down 7.4 percent from SGD 293 million a year earlier due to investments in digital businesses and higher depreciation charges. Excluding the exceptional and one-off items, underlying net profit decreased 5.3 percent to SGD 282 million but would have increased 1.9 percent if further excluding the digital businesses. Net profit for SingTel Group fell 33 percent to SGD 868 million in the fourth quarter ended 31 March, due to a one-time loss of SGD 225 million from the divestment of Warid Pakistan. StarHub grows Q1 profit, sees revenues fall

Singaporean communications operator StarHub saw its first quarter net profit rise 3 percent to SGD 91 million from SGD 88 million a year earlier.
