SK hynix offers KRW 10 tln for Toshiba memory unit - report

South Korean chipmaker SK hynix has joined the preliminary bid to acquire the memory chip business of Japan's Toshiba, Yonhap news agency reports, citing unnamed industry sources. According to the same sources, SK hynix offered more than KRW 10 trillion (approximately USD 8.9 billion) for Toshiba's memory unit. SK hynix declined to comment on the matter. The winning bidder is expected to be announced in June.
