SK hynix strengthens CMOS image sensor business

South Korean chipmaker SK hynix created four new CMOS image sensors under its new brand 'Black Pearl' in a bid to improve its CMOS image sensor business and benefit from the fast-growing smartphone camera market, according to koreatimes.co.kr citing a company statement made on 6 March. The company started supplying three of these sensors to smartphone manufacturers and will begin mass production of the fourth in March. It transformed part of its DRAM production line in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province into a facility that makes its CMOS image sensors.
