SK Planet, XL Axiata to establish JV - report
SK Telecom's mobile affiliate SK Planet has entered into an agreement with Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata to establish a joint venture for mobile and online services in the country. SK Planet and XL will each invest USD 9.15 million in the joint venture, Yonhap reports citing unnamed industry sources. The exact business for the JV has not yet been decided but it is expected to offer navigation services, online shopping, online auction, and other online services. In December last year, SK Planet also launched a joint venture in Indonesia with Telkom to provide music and video streaming service.

XL Axiata to upgrade East Java network

Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata has begun an improvement project for its mobile network in East Java. The modernisation project will start in Surabaya and then rollout to all districts in East Java. SK Telecom to invest KRW 1.2 trillion in ICT start-ups

Korean communications provider SK Telecom will invest a total of KRW 1.2 trillion over three years to help ICT-based start-ups. The investments aim to help baby boomers launch ICT-based businesses and create synergy between the healthcare and IT sectors, Yonhap News writes. SK Telecom launches lost phone service

Korean communications provider SK Telecom will offer a service that helps customer to find a lost phone. The free service locks a smartphone once the owner reports the loss and the screen will display a message saying the phone is lost. A person that has found the phone can choose to contact the original owner which allows a call to a pre-registered number, the Korea IT Times writes. The first phone to have the service is the Samsung Galaxy S4.
