SK Telecom to boost LTE network with more spectrum

Korean telecommunications carrier SK Telecom plans to build additional 1.8 GHz base stations to ensure nationwide coverage for its LTE and LTE-Advanced networks by the end of this year. The rollout of this 20 MHz LTE service will offer speeds of up to 225 Mbps. SK Telecom has also announced it has been granted approval to use 10 MHz of 2.1 GHz bandwidth for LTE. The operator plans to deploy LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology to combine the 10 MHz in the 800 MHz band, 20 MHz in the 1.8 GHz band, and 10 MHz in the 2.1 GHz band to support speeds of up to 300 Mbps. SK Telecom won 30 MHz
