SK Telecom launches Context Platform, Life Log service

Korean communications carrier SK Telecom has launched the Context Platform at the Mobile World Congress. The Context Platform uses the smartphone's capabilities, such as camera, sensors, GPS and Wi-Fi, to figure out what the user is doing. In addition, based on the customer's device usage patterns involving calls, SMS, social networking, schedule, and applications, the platform will work out a user's personal connections, spending amount, and time spent on games. Along with Context Platform, the company is showcasing Life Log, a service developed on this platform that keeps track of user's daily lives. The company emphasised that as information produced by services based on Context Platform is highly personal, SK Telecom will take the necessary steps to safeguard the information. The company is currently developing an application lock feature as well as a feature that records only pre-selected types of information.
