SK Telecom to invest KRW 70 bln into ID Quantique's quantum encryption

Monday 26 February 2018 | 09:07 CET | News
South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom said it will be investing KRW 70 billion (USD 65 million) into ID Quantique (IDQ), a quantum-safe cryptography services provider based in Switzerland. The company encrypts transmitted data, such as for IoT, using special quantum keys that it says are impossible to intercept or steal. The two companies will, in parallel, cooperate in the field of Quantum Sensing in order to keep growing the company's core quantum photonics technologies and provide innovative services for high potential industrial markets.
