Sky completes takeovers in Germany, Italy

BSkyB has completed its acquisition of Sky Italia and takeover offer for Sky Deutschland. The pay-TV group will now serve 20 million customers across five countries: Italy, Germany, Austria, the UK and Ireland. To recognise the new international character of the company, BSkyB is changing its name to just Sky, rather than British Sky Broadcasting. The group's management remains unchanged with Jeremy Darroch as head of the enlarged group as well as the UK and Ireland business, Andrea Zappia as CEO in Italy and Brian Sullivan leading Sky Deutschland. The company acquired 89.71 percent of Sky
