Pay-TV company Sky Deutschland is investing in the production of its own TV series, partly to compensate for the threatened loss of exclusive broadcast rights to Bundesliga football games. Sky CEO Carsten Schmidt told 'Wirtschaftswoche' that it was looking to make up to eight of its own TV productions in the next four years, at a cost of up to EUR 1.5 million per episode, and eight episodes per series. This represents a total investment of around EUR 100 million. It plans to help finance these by selling the rights to sister companies in Italy and the UK.
