Analysts estimate that pay-TV company Sky is facing a possible 70 percent increase in the costs for rights to German football, reports The Telegraph newspaper. Sky currently pays EUR 645 million (GBP 508 million) per season for exclusive rights to Bundesliga games. However, experts at Ampere Analysis believe that stronger pay-TV competition in Germany could push the annual cost to as high as EUR 1.1 billion. This higher figure is equal to Sky's entire budget for all forms of programming in Germany in 2015. The auction for the German football rights is scheduled for June.
